LIGHTING EDUCATION WITH ADELE LOCKE

  • WORKSHOP - Lighting 101

    Lighting Design 101

Bringing our MINT Light School to you!

We are providing workshop events around the Country, starting with Perth in late May 2024.

These sessions will be open to anyone with an interest in lighting design for the home.

This workshop is your chance to spend half a day with Adele Locke, learning how to see, feel and use light to craft amazing lighting plans.

One of the most important skills you can develop, is the ability to compare and evaluate light fittings to determine if they are suitable for your application. Adele will connect that key skill to how we use light in our designs so you can start to make better choices around the light you use.

    Workshop Overview

    - We will cover how we see, and how our visual cues can be crafted with light

    - How to understand the basic science of light, to make better choices when it comes to the light fittings you use.

    - Where we place light to create the right light, in the right place at the right time

    - And finally, the process we use to inspire the best lighting design for a home.

  • MASTERCLASS

Our LIGHT + LIGHTING DESIGN MASTERCLASS, with lighting design expert Adele Locke is a unique opportunity for design professionals, electrical contractors and builders to learn how to use light to transform homes.

The class is an in-depth exploration of light, visual perception and how lighting design impacts our experiences.

You'll walk out of this workshop seminar with a greater understanding how light can and should be used in a home, how to interpret technical data for light fittings and what to look for when creating the layers of light you need in a home.

Each MASTERCLASS has limited seats and you must be working in the design and construction industry to attend.

You must be either in Melbourne or willing to travel to Melbourne to attend as Masterclass is an experiential workshop, held in our Moorabbin Light Studio.

Seats are $950 + GST , including lunch and workbooks. In 2024 seats are being released via email newsletter to our Waitlist first, so sign up below to be the first to know when we release new dates.

    The best advice I ever received about light (from Howard Brandston) was to ask this one question over and over again;

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE?

This masterclass is not about selecting decorative lighting (pendants etc) although we do touch on that subject, it's about crafting the right light throughout a home through understanding how light behaves and how you can control it.

Our interactive darkroom studio allows you to experience the impact of light and see for yourself how the maths and science of architectural lighting design is applied.

Lighting is the final piece of the interior design puzzle – and you must know what you want to see to make the best choices for your lighting design.

    MASTERCLASS Agenda

Why light matters – how light impacts on our wellbeing and changes our experience

First Principles of Vision and Light – Understanding how we see, and how we can create better illuminated environments

What light goes where and how to determine the right position

    The MINT lighting design process

Throughout the day we will have round table discussions, experiment with light and explore your questions.  The class has limited seats to ensure we have plenty of time for everyone to get the most out of the day.

We start at 9.30am and work through a catered lunch, wrapping up around 3pm/4pm.
