“Light is a creative medium I love. I love the science, the ability to inspire others, the playfulness and the constant learning as technology changes and new design solutions arise. Running MINT Lighting Design for the last 12 years has allowed me to inspire thousands of people with light and bring transformative light to over 1000 homes and numerous commercial spaces.”

If you’re having a technical hitch, or just want some advice, you can get in touch with the Studio and Ian will be happy to provide the answers.
Rebecca Wheelans
LIGHTING DESIGNER
Rebecca’s background is in Interior Design, and she is qualified in Building and Construction but her love for lighting design drives her passion for crafting light in homes.
Rebecca’s designs feature a lot of indirect light, to help your home feel more inviting and comfortable to spend lots of time in. She focusses on selecting and placing light fittings that fade into the architecture allowing the effect of the light to be the feature, enhancing the architecture and interior design.
She loves working with home owners, getting to know them and understanding how they are going to live in their home, and then creating beautiful light to fulfill their desires!
Jessica Sinclair
STUDIO MANAGER
Jessica ensures the smooth running of our MINT Studio and is loving learning about all things light.
She has extensive experience in Office Management across a wide range of technical environments with a strong focus on customer service.
She supports all aspects of administration for our design team, while she enjoys developing a greater understanding and appreciation of expertly crafted lighting design.
WELCOME TO OUR WORLD
MINT’s studio has more light than you can imagine
We have a truly unique experiential light space at our studio in Moorabbin. It is not a showroom — remember, we do not sell lights — so the light fittings we have on display are part of our creative workshop. Our space is constantly changing as new ideas are explored, new products tested and projects developed.
If you book in to visit the studio, you will find yourself sharing in our excitement for light, exploring how light behaves, and seeing some of the phenomenal things that can be achieved with it.
Our studio is the only space where you can physically feel the different effects light can create, at any time of day.
FROM THE FOUNDER
mint has transformed the lighting design field
I founded MINT Lighting Design in 2012, an independent residential lighting design practice specialising in lighting homes. MINT makes designed light attainable to everyone, and has changed people’s expectations of light and the value they place on it in every environment.
My commercial design projects include the multi-site architainment lighting for Melbourne Airport’s Forecourt in 2014, the renovation of the historically important Great Hall at the University of Newcastle and large and small scale retail and hospitality venues, including the E&S Trading Showroom in Preston and the Sebel Quay West Foyer in Sydney. Regardless of the scale of a project, the value of light as a transformative tool in interior design and architecture can not be overstated.
In 2014 I was elected to the role of President of IESANZ. I was the first woman to receive the honour of that role, I held the position for 3 years. Previously I was the youngest elected Chapter President of the Victorian Chapter. My time with IESANZ provided many unique and memorable experiences. I presented keynotes and educational seminars around Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Speaking at their 100th anniversary of IES Japan is a standout as The Emperor of Japan attended the final event of the conference, a truly unique moment.
As an expert in my field, I share my knowledge and passion for light and lighting design through public speaking at events, in-house training for other businesses and through our MINT Light School, established in 2019. I also mentor aspiring lighting professionals and am a regular guest lecturer for various colleges such as Collarts, Gordon TAFE, Billy Blue and RMIT.
I consider the opportunity to share the joy of light and the value and opportunity lighting design presents in Interior Design and Architecture as one of the greatest gifts of my career.
If you're looking for someone to create the light you want in your home, office, retail or hospitality space, reach out and let's talk about what MINT lighting design can do for you.
