BRINGING THE OUTSIDE IN

A SUSTAINABLE HOME FOR A FAMILY WITH THE ULTIMATE INDOOR OUTDOOR LIFESTYLE

This beautiful weatherboard home was extended to increase the living space for the family, without losing an inch of garden space. With a strong focus on sustainability, ecological living and minimising their footprint on the block, this renovation was all about creating multiple moods in the one main living space.

We designed 2 unique pendants for the main living space, fabricated by Artefact Industries in Melbourne, using reclaimed timbers and integrating a hanging garden into the main dining feature pendant. This connection to the garden outside is carried through with the selection of Alex Earl leaf pendants for the main hall. The textures of light in the garden are repeated inside with dappled light through the hallway.

Every feature in this home is Melbourne Made, from the Ilanel bedside pendants to the Porcelume pendant in the small sitting room and the bespoke Ilanel Fairy Light in the children's bedroom – complete with colour changing LED.

The architectural light is integrated into the picture rail in the main bedroom, and small sitting room, creating uplifting indirect light to brighten those otherwise gloomy rooms without punching any holes in the ceiling.

The lighting in the garden is the cherry on top for this home, with functional light integrated into the productive garden in the front, and balanced feature lighting to the backyard oasis.
