Our lighting consultants will guide you through the lighting design process, answering all of your questions about light, and providing expert advice for the best solutions in your home. Our role as designers is to interpret what you want to see in your home as light, and then locate that light to create a beautiful space for you to live in.

Every home is different, because every client is different and your light reflects your personality, and architectural style. We navigate the design process through a sequence of steps, each building on the last until we reach a design solution that meets all of your expectations, can be installed successfully in your home and will bring you the joy of light for many years to come.

REMOTE CONSULTATIONS ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA

You can work with us from anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. If you are based in Melbourne, we welcome you to our studio, where we use our dark space to show you light and help you imagine the design.

If you are living in your home while you renovate, we can come to you (within strict guidelines reflecting the current health environment) and work with you in that familiar environment while we discuss transforming it with light.

Since 2012, we’ve worked with clients from Perth to Queensland and everywhere in-between. Our remote design consultations result in lighting designs that are beautiful, well considered and unique to you. Our years of experience and connections mean that we can help you from anywhere.

View fullsize Bedrooms are one of the most personal spaces in our homes - they are our sanctuary. But bedroom lighting is often overlooked, leaving folks with (usually) 4 standard layout downlights, glaring down on them. Typically 2 positioned over the bed and 2 at the end, resulting in that most unpleasant experience of feeling like your retina's are being burned out if someone turns the light on while you're lying down. The key element to remember is that bedrooms don't need direct, functional light [unless you’re reading] Ambient light that allows you to navigate, and set the mood is all you need. View fullsize The lighting of artworks was essential for the home owners of our Albury project, and because they engaged interior designers @livdesigns.au – we had a clear interior design vision as to where each artwork was to be situated throughout their home and therefore able to plan something pretty wonderful. View fullsize Handrails are a brilliant place to hide light, BUT it’s important to invest in good quality linear light, with an excellent diffuser - this will ensure you have uniform light [meaning - no dots] coming from the strip and because you’ll be seeing the light from all angles…..well, seeing dots would just detract from the overall effect. Quality will also guarantee no glare from the fixture, as you want to see the steps and not be blinded light. How much light do you really need? View fullsize We're big fans of using motion detectors for stair lighting, because stairs are where you always need your light and it also helps with ensuring you have an energy efficient installation, as the lights aren't on if no-one is in the area. You need to be sure there's an over-ride switch, because if the lighting to your stairs is a feature of the space, you want to be able to turn them on and leave them on, to enjoy their illuminating beauty.
